DIY Paper Bows made from strips of Designer Paper (video)

A few years ago I learned how to make bows with 1 inch wide strips of Designer Paper.

I thought I would try making bows using different size strips of Designer Paper. With 1/2″ strips of designer paper I made a cute little bow about 2″ in size.  With  2″ wide strips the bow is about 9″ in size! 

They are so fun to make!  Now I need to create boxes for all of them!

Below I have the measurements and instruction for 5 different size bows, and a video with assembly tips.

Supplies:

♥ Designer Series Paper
♥ Tools / Misc: Paper Trimmer (152392), Bone Folder (102300), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Stampin’ Seal (152813; refill 152814), Office Brads/Fasteners – #3 Size (use mini brads for small bow), 1/8″ Hole Punch (1/16″ for small bow)

Instructions:

Step #1 – Cut designer paper for bow:

Small Bow (approximately 2″ Diameter): eight – ½” x 3″ strips , four – ½” x 2-½” strips,  one – ½” x 2″ strip.

Medium Bow(approximately 3-1/4″ Diameter): eight – ¾” x 4-½” strips, four – ¾” x 3-¾” strips, one – ¾” x 3″ strip.

Large Bow (approximately 4-1/2″ Diameter): eight – 1″ x 6″ strips, four – 1″ x 5″ strips, one – 1″ x 4″ strip.

X-Large Bow (approximately 6″ Diameter): eight –  1-½” x 9″ strips, four –  1-½” x 7-½” strips, one – 1-½” x 6″ strip.

XX-Large Bow (approximately 9″ Diameter): eight – 2″ x 12″ strips , four –  2″ x 10″ strips, one – 2″ x 8″strip.

Step #2 – Use bone folder to curl center of each strip.

Step #3 – Apply adhesive on one the end of each strip (set of 8 strips and set of 4 strips), adhere other end to create a cone/petal shape.

Step #4 – For smallest strip apply adhesive on one the end to create circular shape.  

Step #5 – Use the 1/8″ hole punch to punch a hole at the bottom of each “cone/petal”.  Note: Use 1/16″ hole punch for small bow.

Step #6 – Use a brad and adhesive to attach four same size “cone/petal” together.

Step #7 – Place three or four Dimensionals in the center of the two largest sets of “cone/petals”.

Step #8 – Stack two largest sets of “cone/petals” together then adhere smaller set of “cone/petals”.

Step #9 – For small strip shaped in circle attach dimensional(s) overlapping seam and adhere to center.
